Barnardos

The Mordaunt Group handed over their first installment of €50,000 to Barnardos children's charity as agreed at last years launch where they committed to paying €250,000 from their profits by October 2010. This makes the Mordaunt Group the first Motor Group in Ireland to form a "you buy we donate" alliance with a national charity. According to Mr.Mordaunt "the economic downturn is even more of a reason for our staff to strive towards our target of €250,000."

Fergus Finlay, Chief Executive of Barnardos, said, "On behalf of Barnardos I would like to take this opportunity to say how grateful we are to all at the Mordaunt Group for their generous support. Last year Barnardos worked directly with 5,333 children, young people and their families throughout Ireland. Many of the localities in which we are based struggle with social issues that can trap children in cycles of poverty and educational disadvantage. Barnardos work is about breaking that cycle and working for children in partnership with their parents. Barnardos relies on the generosity of individuals and organisations to do our work, and we are delighted that the Mordaunt Group, which has a policy of charitable giving, has chosen to support us through this initiative.

The cheque was presented on behalf of all the customers who purchased cars since October 2007 in the various Mordaunt Group branches in both Clonmel and Kilkenny. Later this month the group will open its newest dealership called Mordaunt Group Kia and this dealership will also contribute every time a Kia is sold.
